2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS: Are there AMG models?

At this time, there is no definitive answer to whether there will be a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS AMG, but we don't see any indication that we will get one this year. The performance-focused GLS variant might come in next year's lineup or with an upcoming, future model lineup.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS: Is there a Hybrid?

There is not a dedicated hybrid model on the 2020 GLS-Class, but both the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 and 580 SUV have a 48-volt electric motor that works in conjunction with the existing powertrain to supply an extra boost in performance and fuel efficiency. So, basically all 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV models are technically hybrids because both engine offerings are lightweight, beltless, and electrified with an Integrated Starter-Generator that allows fuel-free coasting and recaptures energy during deceleration.

2020 vs. 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS Changes

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class exterior compared to the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class exterior showing redesign changes

The Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class received a complete redesign in the 2020 model lineup. Among the changes, the 2020 GLS-Class now has better fuel economy, additional standard features, an upgraded suspension system as well as optional second-row captain's chairs for a 6-person seating configuration instead of 7. As mentioned before, each GLS engine is now electrified with EQ Boost. This adds more horsepower (on top of the fuel efficiency benefit) and the EQ Boost works with the Integrated Starter-Generator making the restart process smoother than ever before.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS Reviews & Ratings

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS does not have safety ratings yet, but we expect good things for the model. As far as enthusiasm goes, the auto publications can't say enough good about this SUV. Car and Driver states that it features a "tech-rich cabin and refined powertrains," while Edmunds hails the comfort.
