Recommended Maintenance for Your Vehicle
At Mercedes-Benz of Colorado Springs, we want your ownership
experience to be the best possible! That's why we have created this reference
guide to help simplify what maintenance your vehicle will need and when. Your
vehicle's instrument cluster will display a letter and message such as "Service
A Due in 300 miles". According to the
model that you have, you will potentially see messages from Service A all the
way up to Service H., For example, the 2009 E 350 Operator's manual states:
"Service types A through H are classified based on estimated time needed to
perform the maintenance service, ranging from: "Service A (approximately 1
hour) to Service H (approximately 8 hours)." - The instrument cluster states an
estimated time; it does not explicitly tell us what is needed. For simplicity,
we have set up this guide in three sections. The first is the 10K, yearly
interval. Second is the 20K, every other year interval. You typically rotate
between Service A and Service B annually. The third is additional services
needed based on time and mileage. Due to the many different driving habits,
conditions, and maintenance preferences, you may need to perform certain
servicing sooner or later. As always, please refer to your vehicle's
maintenance booklet or speak with your service advisor if you have any
questions.

Mercedes-Benz Additional Recommended Maintenance
Not all conditions are the same! Individual driving habits
can be very different, from hard stop and go traffic to easy highway driving.
One thing that stays fairly consistent is our "severe operating conditions".
Here in Colorado we have extreme temperature variations, high altitudes, hot,
cold, dry and dusty conditions that may require more frequent maintenance.
Below are recommendations that will help you get the most from your Mercedes-Benz:
- Tire Balance and Rotation Every 5,000 miles: Staggered wheels cannot be rotated. Regular inspections, pressure checks, and balancing will help maximize the life of your tires.
- Brake Fluid Replacement Every 2 years or 20,000 miles: Brake fluid constantly absorbs moisture from the air; this lowers the boiling point that would impair braking efficiency if not replaced regularly*.
- Climate Control Dust Filter Every 1 to 2 years or 10,000 to 20,000 miles: The integrated filter can filter out most particles of dust and pollen. A clogged filter reduces the amount of air to the interior of the vehicle*.
- Engine Air Filter Every 2 to 4 years or 20,000 to 40,000 miles: A clogged engine air filter can rob your engine of power, reduce fuel mileage and cause damage to certain engine components*.
- Transmission Service Every 3 to 4 Years or 30,000 to 40,000 miles: Every time your transmission shifts it causes heat and friction that breaks down the fluid causing it to lose its lubricating qualities. This can cause premature wear and internal damage*.
- Engine Coolant Replacement Every 3 to 5 Years or 30,000 to 50,000 miles: Over time corrosion and mineral deposits can build up in your engine's cooling system reducing its ability to keep your engine cool. Once deposits build up it can be very costly to repair*.
- Spark Plugs Every 6 years or 60,000 miles: Worn spark plugs
can rob your engine of power, reduce fuel mileage and cause damage to certain
engine components*.
